Dyslipidemia Course

Butter Off Without It

Master lipids without getting lost in the guidelines

Start Course $245

Why this course?

Lipids should be simple.

They are not.

LDL-C. Non-HDL-C. ApoB. Lp(a). TGs. CRP. CAC.

Different markers, different guidelines, and countless contradictory opinions.

This course puts the entire puzzle together:
What to test; who to screen; when to treat, image, reassure or refer.

No more ordering tests just because they're on the requisition.

Order what matters, skip what doesn't, and confidently counsel your patients across the entire life cycle.

Why this course?

Lipids should be simple.

They are not.

LDL-C. ApoB. Lp(a). Triglycerides. CRP. CAC.

Different markers, different guidelines and different opinions about what should happen next.

This course puts the entire clinical picture together, from what to test and who to screen, to when to treat, image, reassure or refer.

No ordering advanced tests simply because they are available.

Understand what matters, what changes risk and what you are going to do about it.

COURSE CURRICULUM

Testing

Understand the practical difference between a lipoprotein and an apolipoprotein, fasting versus non-fasting testing and the clinical roles of LDL-C, non-HDL-C, ApoB, Lp(a), TGs, and endothelium-specific inflammatory markers.

Learn which tests help answer a clinical question and which just add fluff.

Guidelines

Explore how atherosclerosis develops, why cumulative exposure matters and why all of the guidelines continue to rely on LDL-C.

Compare Canadian, European and American approaches to risk calculation, treatment thresholds, retesting and lipid targets.

Screening

Identify the patients who may require earlier or more detailed assessment.

The lesson examines age, ethnicity, physical findings, family history, inflammatory disease, erectile dysfunction and adverse pregnancy outcomes as potential cardiovascular signals.

Treatment

Review the practical use of statins, statin intensity, adverse effects, the nocebo effect and strategies for patients reporting statin-associated muscle symptoms.

The lesson also covers non-statin medications, emerging treatments, metabolic therapies and when to escalate or refer.

Imaging

Work through the Bougie Bob case to explore cardiovascular inflammatory testing, coronary artery calcium scoring, soft versus calcified plaque, risk reclassification and cardiology referral.

Learn why repeating CAC may not answer the question clinicians and patients expect it to answer.

LDL Extremes

Approach familial hypercholesterolaemia, cascade screening, paediatric considerations and severe LDL elevation.

Examine Lean Mass Hyperresponders, ketogenic and carnivore diets, the Oreo study, Keto-CTA and the limits of using short-term observational imaging to dismiss lifetime ApoB exposure.

ND FAQs

You asked, we'll answer!
From red yeast rice, psyllium and the Portfolio Diet to exercise, statins vs. hormone production, and how to explain treatment benefits to patients.

We'll explore when a modest ARR may still be worth acting on, and finish with Bobby's risk transformation, bringing calculators, shared decision-making and before-and-after clinical results together in one masterpiece of a finisher.

8 Cases
Built For Clinical Practice
  • Lenny Unlucky (52yoM) - when LDL-C is finally dropping but Lp(a) won't budge, and the myalgia mind-vs-matter debate
  • Maria Mexicana (37yoF) - the young pt whose panel looked fine... until you order the test that changes everything
  • Tri Hard Teresa (53yoF) - when the EBM TG drug flops but the weight drug wins
  • Amy's Apo B Drop (64yoF) - proof you don't need to keep escalating the dose to hit target
  • Farmer Ken (75yoM) - statin-intolerant, post-MI, and past the age cut-off every guideline abandons
  • Bougie Bob (65yoM) - the healthy guy you'd never screen, and the scan you can't ignore
  • Lean Mass Hyperdelulu (39yoF) - how to objectively counsel a biohacker off a diet they're convinced is the holy grail
  • Blobby-to-Bobby (45yoM) - wear a helmet, wash your hands, take a statin? The 1.5% ARR conversation you're probably not having.
